VANCITY FOTO PHUNK
My good photog friend Abraham Menor just got back from Vancouver, Canada and he said that he had one of the sickest times and that he will definitely add this trip to his traveling memories. He didn’t get to shoot as much as he would usually shoot when he’s traveling, but he said the good times made up for it. He shot over some flicks of his trip to share with the world. He wanted to thank the following: Tony’s boy David for taking us out for the first night, Miles over at Complex for the recommendations, Rod over at Live Stock for the guest list at Fortune, Mitch over at Third for the history lesson of VC graffiti, Melissa for the great conversation on photography, Shar for the positive energy, Shannon for a beautiful time and dinner, Gerry over at DIPT for the hook up and looking out for a brotha, Martini over at DIPT for sharing some words about VanCity Originals, Junior the barber at DIPT, Dj Seko for the hook up and good music, Jaykin over at Alife, Karen for meeting me up for breakfast at Templeton, Paolo from Chronico Music Group for the quick words on the last day, and of course YORS for a wonderful rap up. Vancouver was dope!!! Hit the jump to peep the flicks. MORE
JR – ARTOCRACY IN TUNISIA l INSIDE OUT
Artocracy in Tunisia, the new InsideOut project by JR
Art, People and Freedom
“Six Tunisian photographers travelled the country to take pictures of 100 « normal » tunisians representing the Tunisian diversity: men and women, young and old, from North, South East and West, rich or poor, civil servants, business people, workers, farmers, unemployed, and much more… For a country which has only exposed in the streets the portraits of the ruler, this makes quite a difference. STREET ARTIST LUDO – “CO BRANDING” PARIS
“If you remember, we brought you some “Halloweenism” from LUDO (interviewed) recently. Now, take a look at some of the origins of the series with the “co-branding” project that he’s been working on concurrently in Paris. The “Del Monte” trash can we posted last month was the first piece of this new series, so it looks like he’s branching out from his “Nature’s Revenge” imagery somewhat.” – Arrested Motion
SICKBOY: BUSTED PARACHUTE BOOK & PRINT BOX SET
“From his iconic and globally-recognisable red and yellow street logo known as The Temple, to his spectacular paintings, spray-painted caravans, street actions, and sketchbook drawings, the inimitable art of Sickboy is showcased here for the first time in its entirety. Demonstrating his fascinating and humorous work, Busted Parachute — which includes a foreword by author, Tristan Manco — charts Sickboy’s development from his early notoriety in Bristol, to his status on the global stage. BANKSY “EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP” RETAIL PROMOTION
“For those who think Banksy went overboard with his tour of street pieces to promote his movie and the inevitable slew of haters out there, this latest news will definitely stir things up a little more. On the occasion of the DVD release of his “Exit Through the Gift Shop” documentary, Mr. B (to the surprise of the stores) had a total of three original pieces installed in a HMV outlet in London and Bristol. And for those getting any funny ideas (yes, you!), security guards have been wisely hired to guard these works.” – Arrested Motion
