NEWLY RELEASED: CARNAGE #2 BY RAY MOCK FOR KLUGHAUS GALLERY
I was fortunate enough to receive two zines from the amazing Ray Mock that had been specially released at the SnowBlind opening last Friday. The event was put on by both Carnage and Making Deals Zine at Klughaus Gallery in New York and marked the release of Carnage #2 and a new issue of The Old New York zine with proceeds from the sales of the zines going toward the Wounded Warrior Project which aids Veterans and their respective families. Both zines are aesthetically fascinating and offer the reader a first hand look into urban New York form.
Carnage #2 by Ray Mock is a 68 page zine featuring photos of works and interviews with members of NYC based crew ATM. The zine which is dedicated to the memory of SURE (R.I.P.), tells the story of how ATM has come together as a crew, how they have become inspired by the city of New York, and shares their opinions on what it means to be a “successful” writer. FAUST, ADER, REX, COSBE, DCEVE, and OVERCONSUMER constitute the contributing members. The interior is an arrangement of largely unreleased and meticulously formatted crew flix that show impressive displays of calligraphy and hand-style for which they have become acutely recognizable. The screen printed cover has a transparent vellum overlay with “the title beautifully written in Faust’s signature handstyle.” Each out of the edition of 300 has been hand numbered and comes with stickers from a couple members of the ATM crew. The zines are $12.00 plus shipping.
The Old New York zine is comprised of 16 pages of full color photographs that have a distinct gritty quality to them and feature both graffiti and young men dawning patriotic ensembles in a gangster fashion. With an extremely limited edition of only 25 hand numbered copies in existence, the zine was expressly produced for the event at Klughaus and I am extremely lucky to have gotten my hands on one. The feel of the zine is pervaded by East Coast style and is grimey and at times even gloomy in nature. This is the fourth zine that Old New York has ever produced; the current issue will run you $15.00, but is well worth it. For a full Review of this zine you can visit 12ozProphet.
Carnage also currently has a boxed set available in a limited edition of 25 that contains the new issue of Carnage, stickers from FAUST, ADER, OVERCONSUMER, KOSBE, REX, and DCEVE, a signed and numbered print by Ray Mock, plus more. There are only a few left so pick one up while you can!

CUKUI – BULLET PROOF (ART SHOW)
What does it mean to be “bulletproof”? Is it to be unharmed from attacks and exterior damage? Is it about invulnerability? Or, could it be more the opposite. That in truth what we go through as individuals ready our hearts and minds for the journey. That in fact our dreams and passions are enforced by the small failures and victories. Knowing well enough alone our armor is easily pierced and penetrated. But, when joined together with those of a kindred spirit, that armor is tempered and fortified to withstand all attempts to destroy us.
